Poveo, a pet medical accessories startup, announced on Nov. 19 that it developed dog knee braces.
A knee brace helps the rehabilitation of dogs who had kneecap dislocation surgery or supports the legs of dogs who did not have surgery.
Opposed to previous braces, there is a metal hinge that allows the joints to move comfortably within a 150 degree angle.
“Our product is a brace that can help prevent and rehabilitate knee injuries in dogs such as kneecap dislocations or injured cruciate ligaments,” said CEO Suh Sang-woo.
“The demand for pet related medical products has been increasing along with the increase of pet owners,” said CEO Suh. “Kneecap dislocation is a condition happening in 70% or more of small size dogs.
Poveo is a pet medical accessories startup that was founded in June last year. The company wants to actively pursue its entry into the global market. They are planning to create designs specialized for each country.
“In the case of Japan, most dogs are smaller dogs similar to Korea. However, the US is mostly larger size dogs,” said Suh. “Out of the 90 milion retrievers, more than 30% are suffering from hip joint conditions, and this market can be calculated to be about a 12 trillion Won market.”
“The goal for this project is to meet good investors or distributors in countries such as Europe, USA, Japan, or China to secure a foundation for exporting to various countries,” said Suh. “We expect to grow 10 to 20 times faster if this happens.”
“We will develop 8 types of pet dog braces for the neck and shoulders,” added Suh. “We will show that a 100 billion Won revenue is not impossible.”
