Korean Air announced on Jan. 18 that it had received the 2021 Seoul Public-Private Cooperation Award from the Seoul Metropolitan Government on January 18 in recognition of enhancing Seoul’s brand as a tourist destination.
In March 2021, Korean Air partnered with the Seoul Tourism Organization and introduced videos about Seoul’s scenery, food and attractions on the airline’s in-flight entertainment program.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government has recognized Korean Air’s distribution of tourism content through its in-flight entertainment program as a model example of public-private cooperation to stimulate tourism interest and increase the capital city’s brand image.
In 2022, the airline also plans to provide a variety of new and exciting videos about Seoul on its in-flight entertainment program to further promote Seoul tourism.
Korean Air has been making efforts to revitalize the country’s tourism market despite the significant decrease in overseas tourism due to COVID-19. The airline has been actively collaborating with various public institutions to develop new in-flight entertainment content to promote Korean tourism.
In December 2021, Korean Air signed an agreement with the Korea Tourism Organization to feature Korean tourism highlights on the airline’s in-flight entertainment systems, and to showcase promotional tourism content on the airline’s inflight magazine “Morning Calm,” official SNS channels, and in its dedicated e-newsletter for frequent flyer members.
As the leading airline in Korea, Korean Air will continue its efforts to attract tourists, especially post-COVID, and actively support the development of Korea’s tourism industry, the official said.
