Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction won an order for a Waste to Energy (WtE) plant in Germany.

Doosan Lentjes, a German subsidiary of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, announced today that it has received a Notice to Proceed (NTP) for the WtE plant in Wiesbaden worth 160 billion won from MHKW Wiesbaden.

Through this, Doosan Lentjes performs WtE plant design, equipment supply and installation, and commissioning in the EPC method.

The WtE plant, scheduled to be completed in 2024 in Wiesbaden, mid-western Germany, will process 600 tons of municipal waste per day to produce 22 MW of electricity and provide 40 MW of district heating.

The WtE plant is a facility that converts various combustible waste resources generated at industrial sites and households into energy through gasification, incineration, and thermal decomposition.

This not only provides electricity and heat, but also reduces environmental pollution by minimizing landfilling.

Meanwhile, in the European WtE market, new orders are on the rise due to an increase in demand for replacement of old plants and a policy to restrict waste landfills.
