Hanwha Systems, South Korea’s defense company, signed an MOU with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), a leading Israeli defense company, to promote joint marketing for the export of naval combat systems to the Asian market.
Based on the technologies and experiences of the two companies, such as Hanwha Systems' naval combat system and system integration technology and IAI's ship armament and sensor technology, they plan to begin cooperation to advance into the global market, including Asia.
Hanwha Systems and IAI will form a steering committee to promote continuous and progressive cooperation.
"For the past 40 years, Hanwha Systems has supplied combat systems to about 80 ships, including surface ships and submarines, of the Republic of Korea Navy," Eoh Sung-cheol, CEO of Hanwha Systems. “We have already supplied combat systems to the global market such as the Philippines and Malaysia as well as the Korean Navy, and we expect that the partnership with IAI will greatly contribute to strengthening the naval power of Asian countries in the future.”
"The signing of this MOU represents deep cooperation between IAI and its partners in the Korean defense industry," said Boaz Levy, President of IAI. "IAI has developed and deployed innovative naval systems based on the state-of-the-art technology accumulated over decades, providing optimal maritime system solutions even under difficult conditions.”
"In the future, IAI will be able to provide better solutions to various Asian countries by combining Hanwha Systems' technology and experience," he added.
