On February 21, LG Energy Solution recruited Dr. Byun Kyung-seok, a world-renowned scholar in machine learning, as Chief Digital Officer (CDO).
Dr. Byun served as Principle Data Scientist at the headquarters of Nvidia, an artificial intelligence (AI) and computer systems design services company in the US, and led the development of technologies related to autonomous vehicles, industrial AI, and cloud AI.
He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's largest group of experts in the field of electrical, electronic, communication, and computer.
LG Energy Solution said, “Dr. Byun will lead the digital transformation (DX) implementation of LG Energy Solution as a CDO and lead the smart factory operation of global production plants based on his experience at Nvidia.”
Dr. Byun said, “I will strive for the growth of LG Energy Solution, which will lead the future of the global battery industry, and further develop the Korean manufacturing industry.”
LG Energy Solution plans to discover and implement digital innovation tasks in all fields, including R&D, production, and marketing, with the recruitment of a new CDO and the establishment of an organization.
To this end, the company said it decided to expand machine learning-related professional manpower and infrastructure, and promote collaboration.
