The 5th G20 Summit which will be held on November 11 to 12 in Seoul seems to become the biggest forum for diplomatic and economic debates ever with numerous world-leaders, high-level officials, CEOs of international organizations, and distinguished economic minds. The eyes of the world will be on the all sorts of conferences and events that will take place in Seoul for two days.
Korea's G20 Committee said on October 17, "Approximately 10 thousand people which consist of delegations of nations, including the leader of states and CEOs of international organizations, and reporters." According to the Committee, this G20 is going to be the biggest of all time compared to the 4th G20 in Toronto which was signed up for by around 8400 participants.
For starters, 21 leaders from G20 countries will be attending the talk. The Chairman and the Commission President of EU will participate together as representatives. Leaders from non-G20 member countries such as Spain, Vietnam, Malawi, Ethiopia and Singapore will be present as well. Delegates from IMF, WB, FSB, WTO, OECD, ILO and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will also attend the talk, which means total 33 of world leaders are coming to Seoul at a time.
The leaders and the delegations will be dispersed into about 3000 rooms in 12 of five-star hotels in Seoul. Hotels that are in the vicinity of the G20 Summit location, including the COEX Intercontinental, Grand Intercontinental, Ritz-Carlton, Hyatt, Imperial Palace, Lotte, Shilla and Westin Chosun, are already finished with remodeling of rooms and reinvention of menus and waiting for their new guests to serve.
The heads of each state and organization will be flying by special planes to the Seoul Air Base and the Incheon Airport on November 11, and attending the welcome reception and the gala dinner in the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan on the same night as their first schedule. On the next day, the Summit Talk in the morning the business luncheon in COEX, and the Summit Talk in the afternoon followed by the press conference will be the official schedule of the two days. President Lee Myung-bak will be presiding this whole schedule in addition to bilateral talks with leaders in his spare moments at the Blue House and the COEX.
