Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) announced today that KHNP will participate in the bidding for the Czech new nuclear power plant project, which started bidding for the Czech new nuclear power plant project on March 17.
The Czech new nuclear power plant project is a project to construct one pressurized light-water reactor of less than 1,200 MW in the Dukovany region of the Czech Republic.
Last year, the Czech government completely excluded Russia's Rosatom and China's CGN from bidding for a new nuclear power plant project in the Czech Republic due to security risks.
Afterwards, the Czech Republic conducted a security evaluation of three suppliers, KHNP in South Korea, WEC in the United States, and EDF in France, and announced the second stage of the bidding procedure, allowing only suppliers that passed the evaluation to participate in the bidding.
KHNP plans to sign a contract in 2024 after receiving bids by the end of November and submitting bid evaluation results to the Czech government by 2023.
“Based on our technology and experience accumulated at home and abroad, through this bidding, KHNP will prove that KHNP is the best partner for the Czech new nuclear power plant project in all aspects, such as security, localization, safety, economy, and compliance with deadlines,” said Jeong Jae-hoon, president of KHNP.
