LG Electronics announced today that it has recently supplied a two-tier drawer-type LG CLOi ServeBot to the Courtyard by Marriott Suwon Hotel located in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
This robot autonomously moves up and down floors through elevators in the hotel and delivers the ordered items to the guest room.
This is the first time that LG Electronics has supplied a two-stage drawer-type robot. LG Electronics has developed a two-fold drawer model in addition to the existing three-tier drawer type so that bulky contents can be stored sufficiently.
The double drawer type LG CLOi ServeBot can be stored standing upright and can store up to 17kg.
For example, if a customer requests room service such as wine, food, towels, etc. or items ordered at the hotel front desk, put them in the drawer of the LG CLOi ServeBot, and enter a destination on the front screen, the robot moves to the room by itself.
After arriving at the front of the room, inform the customer by phone in the room, and the customer can follow the instructions on the robot screen to open the drawer and receive the item.
The Courtyard by Marriott hotel is surrounded by large department stores and a number of commercial facilities, including a convention center, so there are many business travelers.
LG Electronics expects to effectively inform customers who have visited the hotel about the differentiated non-face-to-face service provided by LG CLOi ServeBot.
LG CLOi ServeBot is the only service robot that has been certified for elevator safety by the Korea Elevator Safety Authority through performance evaluations such as collision/fall prevention and obstacle avoidance.
In addition, the robot can deliver goods sequentially even if multiple destinations are set based on indoor autonomous driving and obstacle avoidance technology.
LG Electronics provides an integrated control system and continuous maintenance service together with the LG CLOi ServeBot.
Administrators can remotely monitor robot status and manage usage history and delivery schedules through LG CLOi Cloud Station.
LG Electronics is introducing a customized solution optimized for various spaces such as hotels, hospitals, and food and beverages, taking robots as one of the pillars of its future business.
