LG AI Research Center announced on March 23 that it had established "LG AI Research Center, Ann Arbor" in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA.
 
The LG AI Research Center is the first global research base of LG AI Research Center, and Chief Scientist of AI (CSAI) Lee Hong-rak, one of the world's top 10 AI scholars, will take the lead.
 
The newly established Chief Scientist of AI will lead research on the latest AI technologies such as AI that thinks and judges on its own, centering on Lee Hong-Rak CSAI, as well as the global research cooperation ecosystem, and plays a key role in LG's leap forward as a global AI company.
 
In addition, Moon-tae Lee, a professor at the University of Illinois, who joined the research institute earlier this year and is in charge of the Fundamental Research Lab, which conducts research related to the future development of super giant AI technologies and machine learning, will also lead the LG AI Research Center.
 
After the opening of the LG AI Research Center, the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan will collaborate on AI prior art research.
 
The LG AI Research Center signed a business agreement with the University of Michigan's AI Lab in February to jointly research advanced AI technologies and secure outstanding talent.
 
The University of Michigan, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, possesses the world's best AI research capabilities, to the extent that it was selected as one of the top 10 AI graduate schools in the United States by US News, an American university evaluation media.
 
Near the Ann Arbor area, the headquarters and factories of the three North American automakers such as GM, Ford, and Stellantis are also located. equipped
 
The LG AI Research Center will develop the latest AI prior art technologies such as Deep Reinforcement Learning, 3D Scene Understanding, Reasoning with Large-scale Language Model, and Bias & Fairness related to AI ethics with talents recruited from North America in the future.

LG AI Research Center plans to expand open innovation by strengthening industry-university cooperation with several prestigious AI universities and research institutes in North America, starting with the University of Michigan.
