In the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) evaluation index analyzed by civic groups, large corporations such as SK, Hyundai Motor, and Samsung ranked high.
Civic groups announced today the ESG evaluation index of the 50 largest companies.
The ESG evaluation index announced this time was evaluated by 250 civil society and labor experts based on big data analysis such as domestic and foreign major indicators and media reports.
SK ranked first with 225.71 points out of 300 points.
A civic group evaluated, “SK Group is closest to the global consensus by actively reflecting ESG guidelines to all affiliates and participating in the RE100.”
In second place, Hyundai Motors with 211.86 points and Samsung with 193.29 points came in the order. LG Group and KT&G ranked 4th and 5th with 193.12 points and 193.02 points, respectively.
On the other hand, Hoban Construction 145.32 points, HDC 144.79 points, Jungheung Construction 134.69 points, Youngpoong 134.47 points, and Taekwang Group 125.74 points were ranked in the lower ranks.
"In this survey, we conducted a complete survey of South Korean and overseas ESG indices, publicly available data, and media reports," said a civic group. "The top 10 largest companies among the 50 largest companies meet international standards quite well, including receiving high evaluations in overseas ESG indices."
