LG Display announced today that it will unveil a large number of advanced OLED new technologies at the International Society for Information Display (SID) 2022 exhibition held in San Jose, USA for three days from May 10.
SID is the world's largest display-related event, where global display companies and researchers gather to exhibit new technologies and products and present research papers.
Under the theme of the new future that OLED will open, LG Display will introduce new technologies such as the 97-inch extra-large OLED.EX, bendable OLED, foldable OLED that can freely fold and bend the screen, large OLED with built-in touch, and the world's largest P-OLED for vehicles.
At the entrance of the exhibition hall, the largest 97-inch OLED TV panel among existing OLED TV panels welcomes visitors. The 97-inch OLED.EX, which will be released to the public for the first time, provides an overwhelming visual experience with its extra-large size and ultra-high-definition technology.
OLED.EX is a next-generation TV panel that realizes perfect black in any environment.
The 42-inch bendable OLED gaming display that maximizes the strength of OLED as thin as paper is a product that can be freely bent and unfolded up to 1,000R (the degree of bending of a circle with a radius of 1,000mm).
It can be used as a flat screen for watching TV and as a curved screen for gaming, maximizing the sense of immersion.
The "8-inch 360-degree foldable OLED" to be unveiled for the first time realizes bi-directional folding, which is more technically difficult than unidirectional folding, and can be folded back and forth as desired by the user.
A module structure that guarantees durability even when folded and unfolded more than 200,000 times and a special folding structure that minimizes wrinkles in the folds are applied.
The world's largest "17-inch foldable laptop OLED" provides an experience that blurs the boundaries between devices as users can use it as a tablet, laptop, portable monitor, etc.
"OLED in-TOUCH" and "Transparent OLED Touch" are technologies specialized for large OLEDs, and they implement high-sensitivity touch while maintaining thin thickness and excellent image quality by embedding a touch electrode in the panel.
The "8-inch 360-degree foldable OLED" to be unveiled for the first time realizes bi-directional folding, which is more technically difficult than unidirectional folding, and can be folded back and forth as desired by the user.
The world's largest single panel "34-inch curved P-OLED for vehicles" has been implemented so that the driver can see the instrument panel and navigation at a glance with a maximum curvature of 800R by applying an ergonomic design.
The 0.42-inch "OLED On Silicon" for augmented reality (AR) glass enables more realistic augmented reality with an ultra-high resolution of 3,500 PPI by applying OLED to a silicon wafer that makes semiconductors.
Meanwhile, LG Display Chief Technology Officer (CTO, Vice President) Yoon Soo-young will give a keynote speech under the theme of "The New Normal and Displays" at the SID 2022 opening ceremony.
