Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), a South Korean aerospace and defense company, participated in IDEB 2022 held in Bratislava, Slovakia from May 10 to 12 and conducted FA-50 marketing activities as candidates for Slovak advanced training aircraft and light attack aircraft.
It is known that the Slovakian defense authorities have expressed interest in the FA-50. KAI also discussed the status of preparations for industrial cooperation between the two countries with the Slovak Defense Industry Association.
KAI exhibited the KF-21 fighter aircraft, the FA-50 light attack aircraft, and the LAH light-armed helicopter, and conducted interviews with Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Croatia and Finland in need of replacement of outdated fighter aircrafts.
At this exhibition, KAI met Lockheed Martin, a joint marketing partner of FA-50, to share strategies for export expansion by exchanging information on characteristics and trends in the Eastern European market as well as NATO and EU.
The IDEB exhibition has been held every two years since its inception in 2006, and over 70 defense science and technology companies from around the world participate.
Lee Bong-Geun, managing director of the KAI Export Innovation Center, said, “When the performance of the FA-50 is improved, it will be possible to replace outdated fighter aircrafts and enhance the ROK Air Force’s power, as well as gain an overwhelming advantage in the light attack aircraft market, so exports will expand.”
