The first NFT work implemented with LG Display's transparent OLED was recently auctioned off at $6.2 million (about 8 billion won), drawing attention from the global digital art world.

NFT is a technology that uses blockchain to assign a unique recognition value to content. Since it cannot be reproduced, it is recognized as having a value comparable to that of the original.

This work, titled "The Important Memory of Humanity", is the first transparent OLED NFT work created by LG Display by reinterpreting data collected in the private spaceflight project "Inspiration 4" with artificial intelligence in collaboration with world-famous media artist Refik Anadol.

Inspiration 4 is the world's first purely private spaceflight project in which four civilians explored Earth's orbit at an altitude of 575km in September last year led by a US space exploration company.

This work is a visualization of various flight data such as audio, video, and occupant health information of the spaceship, analyzed and reinterpreted by an artificial intelligence algorithm.

This work, which contains the artist's creative intention of combining space flight and cutting-edge technology represented by transparent OLED, provides a more vivid and immersive viewing experience with a hologram effect as if floating in the air.

Refik Anadol said, “Transparent OLED is a very interesting display for artists because it can communicate with viewers through a new perspective outside the existing framework.”

This NFT work was recently auctioned and sold for $6.2 million (about 8 billion won). To the successful bidder, the NFT artwork will be delivered to LG Display's transparent OLED.

According to the artist's will, 30% of the auction proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children's Hospital in the United States.

Currently, LG Display is the only large transparent OLED in the world to be mass-produced.

LG Display has been widely applied in various industries such as mobility, signage, architecture, and home interiors with technological innovation and scalability at the forefront. In addition, the company has recently been actively grafting digital art.
