LG U+ announced on May 1 that it had signed a business agreement with CJ OliveNetworks for cooperation in the 5G specialized network "e-UM 5G".
e-UM 5G is a 5G network that has been approved by the Ministry of Science and ICT to provide customized services in specific areas, buildings, and factories by operators, not telecommunication companies.
Compared to Wi-Fi, it has superiority in communication quality, mobility, scalability, and security.
Last year, the government allocated 4.7 GHz and 28 GHz bands as frequencies for e-UM 5G, respectively, and is working to expand the 5G ecosystem.
CJ OliveNetworks, a lifestyle and culture-based comprehensive IT service company, has been leading the digital transformation of CJ Group based on its know-how accumulated in IT system construction and service since its establishment in 1995.
LG U+ plans to actively support CJ OliveNetworks to strengthen its expertise as a top tier digital service company and to be reborn as a customer-oriented innovative company through cooperation in the e-UM 5G business.
CJ OliveNetworks plans to accelerate internal and external business innovation such as logistics and factory automation, big data analysis, and content distribution by building e-UM 5G at CJ Group affiliates' business sites and external business sites within this year.
With the use of e-UM 5G, large-scale traffic processing is possible faster and more quickly than before in workplaces where robotic facilities such as smart logistics and smart factories are widely used.
In the entertainment field, innovative services such as 5G drones, high-definition live broadcast, AR/VR real-time immersive service, and big data-based digital signage can be provided.
The risk and time required for video production, editing, and data transmission can also be dramatically reduced, so it is expected that a mass content distribution innovation will be possible.
LG U+ decided to help with stable 5G service by supplying exclusive internet lines to CJ OliveNetworks.
