On June 27, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) signed a business agreement to supply the standard platform for the video system developed by Hangil C&C, Balotech Synergy, and IMT, which specialize in training systems.
KAI will provide operational technology to these partner companies, and the partner companies will develop motion simulators for the air force and piloting procedure training equipment for the navy using KAI's standard image system platform.
This system is a kind of computer that implements a clear and immersive virtual screen and is a core part of the simulator.
In the meantime, due to the lack of South Korean technology, all expensive foreign video systems were imported.
If the South Korean video system with excellent performance is applied, it is expected that the partner companies will not only secure price competitiveness but also improve KAI's simulator component development capability.
KAI plans to secure half of the market share in the domestic simulator video system market, which is expected to grow to 30 billion won over the next five years, and enter the 1 trillion won overseas market.
KAI also made a contract to supply a customized image system standard platform at the same time.
The company signed a contract with Balotech Synergy to supply an image system for motion simulator development that can experience G-force (gravity acceleration) by applying VR (virtual reality).
In addition, the company signed a contract with Hangil C&C) to supply an image system for basic flight helicopter simulator development.
KAI has delivered more than 50 sets of training systems to 16 domestic and international bases.
“The next-generation virtual training system based on Metaverse is not limited by place and time," said a KAI official. "KAI plans to expand its business to non-aviation as well as aviation.”
