Netmarble announced today that it will participate in the animation production committee of the Japanese publisher Kodansha's manga "Shangri-La Frontier" and start developing a game based on its Intellectual property (IP).
"Shangri-La Frontier" is a comic book written by Katarina and drawn by Ryosuke Fuji.
It contains the adventures of a high school student who used to play only unpopular, difficult or buggy games while playing "Shangri-La Frontier," which is considered the best game.
This work, which is based on a popular web novel that has accumulated over 500 million views in Japan, is currently serializing comics in Kodansha's "Weekly Shonen Magazine" based on its popularity.
"Shangri-La Frontier" animation, which Netmarble participates as a production committee, is produced by Japanese studio C2C and director Toshiyuki Kubooka, and is scheduled to air in Japan in 2023.
The IP-based game will be developed by Netmarble Nexus, which developed the "Seven Knights" series with the goal of global service. Detailed information about the game will be revealed at a later date.
“Since Shangri-La Frontier, which has recently received a lot of attention in Japan, is an IP with great growth potential, Netmarble intends to use it to create a new global box office title," said Han Ji-hoon, Head of Netmarble Business Group. "We plan to actively communicate with fans during the production process in the future, so please show interest in Shangri-La Frontier animations and games.”
