Celltrion announced today that it had held on-site training on July 22 for trainees from each country who participated in the government-led "WHO Global Bio Human Resources Nurturing Hub" education.
In February, Korea was designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a “global bio manpower nurturing hub,” which is the center of education and training for vaccine and biopharmaceutical production processes.
This month, 106 production workers from 25 middle and low-income countries and 32 domestic trainees are participating in the short two-week training hosted by the International Vaccine Research Institute (IVI).
Celltrion is participating in this education support as a private partnership and is conducting on-site education such as introduction of the antibody manufacturing process and GMP production facility operation and a tour of the production facility.
Educational institutions and trainees who participated in Celltrion's on-site training had time to tour the company's biotechnology research center and production facilities, and to improve their understanding of the development and production of antibody drugs supplied to the global market.
In particular, they were in charge of R&D and production of Celltrion's main items and had time to communicate with trainees by directly attending the department heads and general managers in each field.
"Korea, which is emerging as a global bio powerhouse, has been selected as the 'WHO global bio manpower nurturing hub' and is carrying out meaningful projects for nurturing bio manpower in each country," said a Celltrion official. "Celltrion plans to spare no effort to participate and support so that the know-how and competency accumulated by the company can be transmitted through on-site training.”
