This report, published for the 11th year this year, contains the nine core ESG areas derived through the ESG committee newly established last year: “Environment: climate response, resource circulation, management of hazardous substances, product responsibility”, “Society: workplace safety, management of partners, Human rights management, human capital" and "Governance: Stakeholder Communication and Transparent Information Disclosure" are included.
In the environmental field, LG Display has set a goal of reducing carbon emissions by 90% in 2050 compared to 2014, and has been striving to set and manage greenhouse gas reduction goals, switch to new and renewable energy, and develop eco-friendly technologies and products.
In order to reduce the use of fossil fuels, the company converted 57,200 MWh, or 100% of the electricity used by all office buildings at its South Korean business sites, into new and renewable energy last year.
It replaced the gas for the manufacturing process with a gas with a low global warming potential, and built facilities that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 90% last year, reducing carbon emissions at domestic business sites by 38% compared to 2014.
As part of the establishment of the resource circulation system, LG Display raised the recycling rate of domestic business waste to 98.4%, a 1.3 percentage point increase from the previous year, by improving the manufacturing process. did.
In order to consider environmental impact factors even in the product development stage, the company introduced Eco Index to improve the use of easily recyclable raw materials. As a result, the recycling rate of parts when disposing of products based on 65-inch OLED TV modules reached 92.7%.
In order to reduce carbon emissions by 90% in 2050 compared to 2014, LG Display plans to make efforts to innovate eco-friendly technologies such as process gas high-efficiency emission reduction technology and accelerate the transition to new and renewable energy.
In the social field, the company is providing more and more suppliers with the "ESG Supply Chain Code of Conduct" so that companies in the supply chain can establish a safe working environment and operate in compliance with environmental and ethical standards.
As a result of operating win-win cooperation programs such as financial support, technical cooperation, and medical welfare support for business partners, the company obtained the highest grade in the win-win growth index for 7 consecutive years.
In the field of governance, LG Display established the ‘ESG Committee’ in April last year and approved major strategies such as selection of 9 key ESG areas. The company made efforts to enhance fairness and transparency of transactions by establishing an insider trading committee in July.
