Doosan Enerbility has signed a contract for a Cogeneration Plant in Saudi Arabia worth about 540 billion won.
Doosan Enerbility announced on September 23 that it had signed a contract with the project developer, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), for the construction of the Saudi Jafurah Cogeneration Plant.
KEPCO participates as a developer in charge of business development and operation. Doosan Enerbility proceeds with the EPC method, which performs the entire process from design to supply of equipment, installation, and commissioning.
The Jafurah Cogeneration Plant will be built about 400 km east of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. It is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2025. After completion, it will produce 320 MW of electricity and 314 tons of steam per hour to supply electricity and heat to the nearby Jafurah gas field.
“After the Ukudu Combined Cycle Power Plant in Guam, which was ordered in 2020, KEPCO and Team Korea will once again participate in overseas power plant construction," said Doosan Enerbility Plant EPC BG Director Park In-won. “As orders for combined cycle power plants of about 30GW are expected over the next five years in the Middle East, mainly Saudi Arabia, we will strengthen our market penetration.”
Meanwhile, Doosan Enerbility is strengthening its position in the Saudi market by winning more than 2.3 trillion won in construction contracts in Saudi Arabia this year.
In February, it signed a contract to build a casting and forging plant worth 1 trillion won. It also succeeded in winning a contract to build a seawater desalination plant worth 840 billion won in August.
