Samsung Engineering announced today that its EDISON 4 site in Songdo, Incheon has received a 'Zero Waste to Landfill Certificate' from UL Solutions, a global safety and scientific certification organization.

This certificate was awarded in recognition of Samsung Engineering's excellent waste management capabilities at the Edison 4 site in Songdo.

UL Solutions evaluates the recycling rate of waste generated at its business sites and assigns them Platinum (100%), Gold (99-95%), and Silver (94-90%) grades.

Construction wastes such as waste concrete, waste synthetic resin, waste wood, and waste boards are generated at construction sites. By recycling it, it is possible to obtain the effect of preventing environmental pollution, reusing resources, and reducing carbon emission.

Samsung Engineering received a gold grade by recycling 4,280 tons, or 98%, of the 4,368 tons of waste generated from March 2021 to February 2022, during the verification period.

Samsung Engineering has set the basic principle for on-site waste treatment as 100% recycling, and has improved the recycling rate through separation and segmentation of waste materials and strict selection and supervision.
