KT&G will provide 300 million won in emergency aid to support victims of the earthquake in Turkiye and quickly recover from the damage.
The donation will be sent to the Korean Red Cross to support relief supplies for the survival of Turkiye victims and to restore early damage.
Relief donations were raised from the Sangsang Fund, a donation fund created by KT&G executives and employees voluntarily participating.
Sangsang Fund is KT&G's unique social contribution fund launched in 2011, and it is created in the form of "Matching Grant" in which the company adds the same amount when executives and employees voluntarily donate a certain amount of salary every month.
It is being used to support the underprivileged at home and abroad and to solve urgent social problems.
"We hope that the earthquake-stricken Turkiye area will be restored as soon as possible and the victims will be able to return to their daily lives as soon as possible," said Shim Young-ah, head of KT&G's social contribution office. "As a global corporate citizen, we will continue to pay attention to countries in need and make efforts to fulfill our social responsibilities."
Meanwhile, KT&G has donated a total of 7.3 billion won over the past 10 years to support disaster recovery at home and abroad, including the 2013 Philippine typhoon, 2015 Nepal earthquake, 2018 Inni earthquake, last year's Uljin and Samcheok forest fires, and nationwide heavy rain damage.
