LG Electronics (LG), in collaboration with its South Korean labor union, is extending its humanitarian support to the people of Türkiye who have been affected by the recent devastating earthquakes.
LG has established free laundry facilities, which are equipped with around 120 washing machines and dryers, in eight temporary housing locations across the affected regions in Türkiye, including Mersin and Taurus provinces in the south and southeast. Service engineers from LG will be present at the facilities to provide technical support as needed.
Moreover, LG has set up temporary service centers in five different cities in the earthquake-damaged areas. The company's service vehicles are collecting damaged home appliances, transporting them to the service centers for repair, and returning them to the owners' homes after repairing them.
To support the victims of the earthquake, LG has been collecting donated goods from its executives and employees. The company's Executive Social Contribution Fund, along with the Junior Board, a voluntary representative body of company workers, will provide essential items, such as blankets, sleeping bags, clothes, cleaning products, masks, and diapers, as well as relief goods, including generators and flashlights, to the Turkish citizens in need.
Furthermore, LG's labor union will contribute to the relief efforts by utilizing its Union Social Responsibility (USR) Fund to purchase necessary items and materials to rebuild the infrastructure in the affected areas. The labor union has been supporting socially and environmentally beneficial activities since 2010, including purchasing school uniforms for disadvantaged children, supporting Korean War veterans in Ethiopia, and funding aid programs for Ukrainian refugees.
Meanwhile, LG Corporation has donated USD 1 million to the Korean Red Cross to aid the relief efforts in Türkiye, and LG's subsidiary in Türkiye has made a separate donation through the Ahbap Association, a local non-profit organization.
