The non-profit organization, peaq Foundation, has launched a rewards program for owners of Raspberry Pi mini-computers who help to stress-test its decentralized IoT network. The program, called peaq control, enables Raspberry Pi owners to link their devices with peaq's IoT-focused blockchain network and simulate a range of connected devices to optimize and prepare it for the arrival of live devices. By joining the network, users can earn an upfront reward of $25 and future incentives for helping with testing.
This initiative supports the development of Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePINs) that leverage blockchain and tokens to incentivize the deployment of physical infrastructure, such as solar panels, wireless routers, or VPN servers, by businesses and private individuals. By creating a DePIN, suppliers and consumers can have more ownership and autonomy within the ecosystem.
Raspberry Pis connected with peaq will play a crucial role in testing the network and building decentralized applications. Additionally, the mini-computers will work as universal bridges connecting any other live devices to the network, enabling hundreds of other DePIN use cases.
To participate, users must follow a few simple steps outlined in a guide and submit validation points confirming success on peaq's Dework. The first 500 devices to join the network will receive rewards. Raspberry Pi owners can also migrate their devices to get involved in further testing on a production blockchain network.
peaq, which powers the Economy of Things, is co-creating the standards and digital infrastructure for the future of connected sustainable mobility as part of the pan-European Gaia-X 4FM moveID project led by Bosch.
