Doosan Enerbility has won consecutive orders in the Central Asian natural gas power generation market.
On March 22, Doosan Enerbility announced that it received a Notice to Proceed (NTP) from Harbin Electric International (HEI), a Chinese EPC company, to supply equipment and materials for the phase 2 natural gas power plant in Syr Darya, Uzbekistan.
This is the first order in Uzbekistan and comes a week after the 1.15 trillion won power plant construction contract in Kazakhstan on March 15th.
The contract amount for the 1,600 MW power plant in Syrdaria is about 60 billion won, and it is expected to be commercially operational in 2026.
Doosan Enerbility plans to supply 500MW class steam turbines and generators under this contract. Uzbekistan has the highest growth potential in Central Asia and is actively pursuing public-private partnership (PPP) orders in the infrastructure sector, such as power generation and construction.
“Uzbekistan, which has the highest growth potential in Central Asia, is currently actively pursuing public-private partnership (PPP) orders in the infrastructure sector, such as power generation and construction,” said Park Hong-wook, head of the Power Service BG of Doosan Enervity. “We will strengthen our penetration into the Central Asian market, including Uzbekistan.”
According to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, the current 15.8GW of power plant capacity is planned to be expanded to 29.3GW by 2030, which is expected to grow by more than 10% annually.
