Mirae Asset Securities and SK Telecom announce MOU to create token securities ecosystem and induce participation of Korean companies

Mirae Asset Securities and SK Telecom joined hands to lead the creation of the Security Token (ST) ecosystem.

Mirae Asset Securities announced today that Mirae Asset Securities and SK Telecom have signed an MOU to form the Next Finance Initiative (NFI), a consortium for token securities, and have announced that they will begin building a token securities ecosystem in earnest.

The two companies expect to create high synergy in the token securities field by combining their respective expertise. Mirae Asset Securities will bring its financial investment infrastructure and global network, while SK Telecom will contribute its high-level technology and various Web3 platform operation know-how.

The NFI will work to establish token securities infrastructure, jointly discover underlying assets that are subject to token securities, and create synergies in linked services. 

The capabilities of Mirae Asset Securities and SK Telecom will be fused to create excellent results in IT technology/infrastructure, such as blockchain, which forms the basis of token securities, and play a cornerstone in expanding the financial-ICT-based Web3 ecosystem.

The two companies plan to promote the token securities ecosystem and secure global competitiveness in the blockchain field by actively inducing the participation of leading Korean companies. The NFI will provide incubating and accelerating services for companies and projects that wish to issue token securities, utilizing the capabilities of NFI participating companies. 

The company plans to expand the market and induce a virtuous cycle by providing general individuals with a wide range of investment opportunities in contents and intangible assets with excellent business potential by supporting the establishment of a token securities issuance platform and issuance accelerator.

Mirae Asset Securities' global infrastructure will be utilized to devise various plans for the global commercialization of token securities based on successful cases of token securities in Korea. 

The two companies will cooperate on investor protection policies for the correct settlement and vitalization of the token securities industry and continue close strategic cooperation to lead leading companies in various industries to participate in NFIs to vitalize the token securities business and ecosystem.

"Through the formation of this NFI, we will be able to establish a firm position as a global platform that leads the token securities industry by combining Mirae Asset Securities' financial expertise and SK Telecom's ICT technology/service operation experience," said Ahn In-seong, CEO of Mirae Asset Securities' digital division. "We will continue to make various efforts to secure the soundness of token securities and revitalize the ecosystem.”

“Token Securities is the starting point for Web3 to connect with the financial market, and with token securities as an opportunity, we will make sure that various projects with Web3 innovation can grow within the institutional system,” said SK Telecom Vice President Oh Se-hyeon in charge of Web3 CO.
