Kia unveiled The Kia EV9 (EV9) for the first time in North America at the 2023 New York International Auto Show held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, USA on April 5 (local time).
The EV9, launched by Kia last month, is Kia's second dedicated electrification model based on E-GMP, a dedicated electric vehicle platform.
When Kia unveiled the EV9 at the New York Auto Show, it conveyed a message that it would provide a new experience to North American customers by changing the concept and method of mobility.
“The EV9 is a model created based on Kia’s SUV know-how and EV expertise,” said Yoon Seung-gyu, vice president of Kia’s North American headquarters. "Based on a high level of marketability, we will present a new standard for large electrified SUVs with specifications that satisfy North American customers.”
Kia has incorporated several advanced technologies in their vehicles, including the Highway Driving Pilot (HDP), also known as AHDA, which is an advanced driving assistance function. Additionally, Kia Connect Store allows customers to add specifications to their vehicle even after purchase. Wireless software updates are also available, enabling navigation map updates and easy updates of various vehicle functions.
In addition, the EV9 is equipped with a 99.8kWh large-capacity battery, and by applying a 3D undercover, 19/20/21-inch aerodynamic wheels, and a front bumper air curtain, the certification aims to achieve a driving range of more than 500km on a single charge based on domestic standards. .
Kia plans to release the EV9 in the North American market in the fourth quarter of this year.
