Chey Jae-won, senior vice chairman of SK on, emphasized that we will be able to achieve tangible results from next year, saying, “Let’s overcome the difficulties of the early stage of an independent corporation with the united strength of the members.”
On April 5th, SK on, a subsidiary of SK Innovation, held its first town hall meeting of the year.
The event was attended by senior executives, including senior vice chairman Chey Jae-won, CEO Ji Dong-seop, and COO President Chin Kyo-won. They discussed the company's strategic direction and emphasized the need to overcome the difficulties faced by a new independent corporation.
On this day, when asked about the company's strategic direction, Senior Vice Chairman Chey said, "In general, the manufacturing industry sees losses for the first 4 to 5 years, and then sees the light quickly."
"I believe that the results will be visible from next year,” he continued. "As we are showing surprisingly fast growth overseas, it is inevitable that there will be growing pains along with it."
SK on is predicted to record a loss of close to 300 billion won in the first quarter of this year, in contrast to its competitors LG Energy Solutions and Samsung SDI, who recorded significant operating profits in the energy solution sector.
Despite this, the size of SK on has been steadily increasing, with the number of executives and employees rising from 1,500 to about 3,000. Senior Vice Chairman Chey emphasized that SK on is the fastest-growing company in the industry, and its future is very bright. He also highlighted the advantage of members growing together by taking on various roles as the company grows.
When asked about SK on's strengths, he emphasized, "SK on is the fastest growing company among the fastest growing industries."
"Our future is very bright," he said. "The biggest advantage of SK on is that members of SK on can grow together by taking on various roles as the company grows."
The shared direction was emphasized for personnel and organizational management plans. Senior Vice Chairman Chey said, "All of our members row together on the same boat, so the direction is important."
CEO Ji Dong-seop introduced a new mission called "We Power for Green" and shared SK on's growth strategy, business status, and plans to improve profitability.
“SK on has shown the fastest growth in the industry based on large-scale orders and rapid facility expansion,” said CEO Ji.
Presenting the vision of 'value beyond expectations, 100+', he emphasized, "SK on will make ceaseless efforts to exceed the expectations of stakeholders such as employees, customers, shareholders, and business partners by 100% or more."
