Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) has achieved the highest grade, the Green grade, in the evaluation of operating experience by the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO).
As a result, KHNP achieved the highest rating for 8 consecutive years for the first time among 16 member companies of the WANO Tokyo Center, and KHNP's excellent operational capabilities were recognized internationally once again.
WANO, founded in 1989, is the largest private international organization in the field of nuclear energy. 123 nuclear power plant operators from 35 countries are participating, and it is operated for the purpose of enhancing the safety of nuclear power plants around the world through international cooperation between nuclear power industry operators.
The operating experience is a report that records the events that occurred at the nuclear power plant and the lessons learned and implications. All nuclear power plants around the world share their operating experience to prevent the same incident from occurring at other power plants. The WANO Tokyo Center evaluates and ranks items such as the quality and promptness of driving experience reports issued by member companies and the number of submissions every year.
KHNP is recognized for its exemplary and high-quality driving experience sharing performance, such as the reports of Hanul Units 1 and 4 in the second quarter of last year being selected as excellent reports. In particular, as KHNP became the first WANO Tokyo Center member company to achieve the highest rating for 8 consecutive years, it will receive special privileges for being selected as an excellent member company, such as support for report translation costs.
