Seek cooperation in all areas of energy, including new UK nuclear power plant projects

KEPCO President Chung Seung-il discussed ways to cooperate across the energy sector, including participation in the UK's new nuclear power plant project, with Grant Shapps, the UK's Secretary of State for Energy Security, in Busan on April 11.

President Chung supported the UK's nuclear expansion policy through the reorganization of the British government and the establishment of the Great British Nuclear Agency, expressing hope that KEPCO would contribute to the achievement of the policy. It also proposed a cooperative MOU between KEPCO and the British Nuclear Agency.

In addition to nuclear power, President Chung and Secretary of State Grant Shapps agreed to cooperate in renewable energy such as offshore wind and solar energy, green hydrogen production, energy efficiency, electric vehicles and transmission and distribution to achieve carbon neutrality.

\During his visit to Korea, Secretary of State Grant Shapps expressed his gratitude for KEPCO's hospitality and actively welcomed KEPCO's willingness to participate in the UK nuclear power plant project.

KEPCO plans to make all-out efforts to win orders not only from the British government but also supports from parliament to participate in the British nuclear power plant project.

As part of this, KEPCO plans to invite members of the new nuclear power plant site (Virginia Crosby) to the International Congress on Advances in Nuclear Power Plants (ICAPP) event to be held in Gyeongju on April 23 and promote the excellence of Korean nuclear power plants through their visits to domestic nuclear facilities.
