On April 14th, SPC Paris Baguette announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the city of New York and the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Korea.
The signing of the MOU took place at the Paris Baguette Manhattan location in New York City on April 12th and was attended by New York Mayor Eric Adams, AMCHAM Chairman and CEO James Kim, Kevin D. Kim, New York City Small and Medium Business Administrator, and Edward Mermelstein, SPC President Huh Jin-soo.
The three parties have agreed to work together to promote economic growth by providing internship opportunities for New Yorkers and supporting Minority & Women Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBE).
Paris Baguette will be responsible for running an internship program that will provide baking education and practice to participants, followed by continuous career development opportunities such as employment. Additionally, Paris Baguette plans to donate food to five New York boroughs to support those in need.
AMCHAM will act as a link between New York M/WBE and global companies to help support their growth.
"For small businesses, New York is a big city and a land of opportunity, and we want to make sure that we support everyone who wants to invest in our city, including global companies," said New York Mayor Eric Adams. "Through this agreement with Paris Baguette, we will be able to create jobs and opportunities throughout the five autonomous regions, create youth internships through necessary skills and educational support, and develop food donation programs for citizens in need throughout our city."
"Partnerships are essential to economic growth, and this collaboration with Paris Baguette and AMCHAM demonstrates the potential for opportunity matching those in need," said Kevin Kim, head of the New York City Small and Medium Business Administration.
"I am happy that Paris Baguette has become one of the pillars of business and community in New York," said Heo Jin-soo, president of SPC. "Through partnerships with New York City and Amcham, we will provide various help and opportunities for women and the socially disadvantaged to grow with the company as future leaders."
"This MOU proves an amazing synergy between the two countries, and it will be a perfect and symbolic win-win scenario of strong cooperation between the three parties," said AMCHAM Chairman and CEO James Kim. "One of Amcham's main missions is to help more companies, including Han 미 U.S. small and medium-sized enterprises, conduct successful sales activities in each other's countries."
Meanwhile, Paris Baguette has been operating in the US since 2005 and has over 130 stores in the country, including more than 30 in New York City. Paris Baguette aims to open 1,000 stores in the US and North America by 2030.
