UK-based engineering firm WAE Technologies (WAE) is set to unveil its ultra-high performance electric vehicle platform, EVR, at the E-TECH Europe advanced electrification show in Bologna, Italy, on April 19-20th. This marks the first public debut of the platform outside of the UK. The event brings together hundreds of companies showcasing the latest in EV solutions across the industry.

In addition to the EVR, WAE's stand at E-TECH Europe will also feature its Scalable Battery Module (SBM) system and the prototype Triumph TE-1 e-motorbike. The company developed the e-powertrain for the Triumph TE-1, which was created in collaboration with Triumph Motorcycles, Integral Powertrain Ltd, and WMG, University of Warwick.

EVR is designed to accelerate the ambitions of hypercar manufacturers, from start-ups to OEMs, enabling them to launch unique high-performance EVs based on a state-of-the-art yet cost-effective platform. The lightweight composite structure of EVR mounts the high-performance battery system in the middle of the vehicle, optimizing the center of gravity. This architecture's central tub has been designed from the ground up to allow for flexibility in terms of open-roof Targa and fixed-roof GT architectures, as well as other hypercar configurations.

EVR can support both track-only vehicles where power-to-weight is maximized, as well as roadgoing models. With a state-of-the-art 85kWh battery and peak power of 1650kW, the EV platform enables sub-2.0secs 0-100km/h acceleration and a top speed of more than 400kmh (248mph) with a vehicle mass of less than 1800kg. Additionally, it offers fast-charging capability of sub-20mins and a range of more than 450km (279 miles). All-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive layouts are supported through multiple e-motor configurations.

EVR's inherent flexibility and modularity make it a unique offering to customers. For start-ups, EVR provides a complete turnkey solution, with WAE delivering the entire vehicle and exterior design support supplied by the customer or a WAE partner. For OEMs, EVR accelerates the route to market, with the entire engineering and assembly of the rolling chassis completed by WAE. Capable of being adapted for both the OEM's design and styling requirements, EVR reduces time from development to market launch.

EVR is also ready for a hydrogen future, with an EVR-H fuel cell variant currently being developed to deliver the equivalent performance of a pure BEV platform but powered by green H2.

WAE's SBM system, which will also be on display at E-TECH Europe, utilizes the company's proprietary 'Sense Chain' architecture. This system eliminates the replication of electronics, while enabling independent scaling of voltage and capacity and the realization of bespoke battery concepts in record time. The modular toolkit enables automotive customers to create custom pack and sub-pack systems faster than ever, supporting low-medium volume electric vehicle developers across a range of industries.

Overall, WAE's EVR platform, SBM system, and e-motorbike prototype underline the company's position as a leader in high-performance electrification. WAE's goal is to target the delivery of a first EVR-based prototype within 12 months from project kick-off, with the delivery of the first production vehicle in 24 months.
