LS ELECTRIC will use Microsoft's AI and machine learning technologies to solve problems in the process, diagnose all areas of production, and develop intelligent and autonomous factory solutions that autonomously make optimal decisions.

LS ELECTRIC and Microsoft announced on April 19 (local time) that they had signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) for “joint development of smart factories and energy-based new businesses and technology verification” at the MS exhibition hall in Hannover, Germany.

Through this partnership, LS ELECTRIC and Microsoft will promote wide-ranging collaboration in the smart factory field, such as verifying data connectivity for each representative scenario to achieve an intelligent factory, securing data insights to solve production facility problems, and analyzing production line power efficiency.

Through this, it is checked whether each smart factory system such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Quality Management System (QMS), and Warehouse Management System (WMS) properly provides relevant data for factory-specific items such as defective products and out-of-stock occurrences. Through the analysis of the cause of facility shutdown, if a problem occurs in the future process, it will be resolved according to priority.

In addition, by measuring the power data consumed by each facility in the production line and linking it with production information, the actual production utility considering not only the simple increase in production but also the consumed power cost is analyzed.

In the case of processes that consume a lot of power, the company plans to implement smart factory energy efficiency through an automated process that concentrates production during times when electricity prices are low.

LS ELECTRIC has already carried out tasks for advanced inspection and noise analysis of the production line at the MS and Cheongju plant last year, reducing the defect rate and increasing productivity through deep learning technology.

“Through cooperation with Microsoft, we plan to secure the ability to continuously upgrade smart factory solutions that work in the global market,” said Cho Wook-dong, managing director of LS ELECTRIC.
