SK Innovation has announced that it has appointed Park Jin-hei as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors (BOD).
Park Jin-hei was previously an independent director of SK Innovation and was appointed in March of last year with the goal of developing sustainable strategies for the company and establishing a fair personnel system. During his tenure, he contributed to the Future Strategy Committee and the Personnel Evaluation and Compensation Committee under the BOD.
The appointment of Park Jin-hei as the new Chairman means that SK Innovation will continue with its independent chairman system, which began in March 2019 when the company appointed Kim Jong-hoon as its chairman.
This system has been deemed effective in solidifying board-centered management and has allowed independent directors to contribute their expertise and insights to company management over the past four years.
SK Innovation BOD expects that Park Jin-hei's experience and capabilities, including serving as CEO of a financial company, will contribute to the development of the company's financial story, global management, and growth.
In a recent interview with SK Innovation’s news channel, Chairman Park shared that “SK has the image of a young corporate that confronts challenges and makes achievements while looking to the future, and the implementation of BOD-centered management is a great change in its governance structure, which other companies in Korea haven’t fully implemented yet.”
“SK Innovation is a company that is not afraid of change, and it has led a successful history. Through a transparent decision-making process based on the expertise and diversity of the BOD, we’d like to contribute to the continuous growth of SK Innovation and realize the vision of ‘Carbon to Green’,” he added.
