Com2uS, a South Korean mobile game developer, has announced that it will release its popular intellectual property (IP), Summoners War webtoon, globally for the first time on Apple Books in Japan on May 8th.
The Summoners War webtoon will be exclusively available through the vertical reading manga (Tate-Yomi-Manga), a new webtoon genre section of Apple Books in Japan, which features scrolling and full-color coloring optimized for digital media. This section is available through the Comics Store within the Apple Books application.
The Summoners War webtoon consists of six webtoons based on the global hit Summoners War, and they provide fresh fun with individual narratives of several characters familiar to existing fans through games and comics, as well as crossover stories that cross each content. Com2uS plans to release four titles first, including Cross, Captain Eve, Occult Detective Nikki, and Royal Blood, among the six titles, and then release two titles, Summoners Academy and Trackers, sequentially.
The Summoners War world unfolds with many new stories that have not been seen in the game, such as the protagonist's journey to uncover the secrets entangled with his father and the adventures of Eve on a pirate ship.
The Summoners War webtoon was produced by Jungle Studio, a subsidiary of Com2uS. Jungle Studio is a content production company established by Com2uS in 2021 with Kenaz, the largest webtoon production company in Korea, and is producing various webtoons using Com2uS game IP.
“Summoners War Webtoon is a project that contains the vision of Com2uS to lead K-contents as a global comprehensive contents company," said Han Ji-hoon, head of the game business division at Com2uS. "We expect to be able to experience the expanded worldview of Summoners War through this webtoon.”
Meanwhile, Com2uS is expanding its Summoners War IP into various cultural contents such as comics, animations, light novels, and webtoons with various content companies at home and abroad, such as Skybound Entertainment in the US and Toei Animation in Japan.
