DL E&C announced on May 11 that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Meissa on May 10 at the D-Tower Donuimun headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. The agreement aims to develop a construction digital twin and enhance construction site productivity.
Both DL E&C and Meissa have agreed to cooperate in building a Digital Twin in the construction industry. A digital twin is a virtual representation of real-world objects. When applied to construction, it can help in processes such as quality and safety management, design, sales, and maintenance. By creating real twin buildings in virtual space, it can simulate things that are difficult to execute in reality due to cost or safety issues.
DL E&C and Meissa have also decided to jointly develop a drone platform to build a digital twin. DL E&C has experience in various drone applications, including deploying drones to manage construction sites both locally and internationally.
Meissa, a smart construction platform company, has the only 3D mapping engine in Korea. The two companies plan to provide various solutions in the construction industry by building a more sophisticated digital twin through filming and analyzing construction sites using drones.
"DL E&C has the capability to analyze and utilize various big data derived through Digital Twin simulation based on their competitiveness in Building Information Modeling (BIM), AI, and drones," said Lee Sang-young, executive in charge of technology at DL E&C’s Housing Business Headquarters. "The collaboration with Meissa, which has strengths in the field of smart construction solutions, will continue to lead the Digital Twin market."
Meanwhile, DL E&C is positioning itself as a leader in digital twins, as it was selected as a leader in the field of BIM among the six tasks of the Smart Construction Council of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of South Korea.
