SK Group sponsors a large-scale art festival and Korean cultural event in New York this summer.
The purpose of this event is to garner respect and sympathy from local stakeholders before starting their business, and to fulfill their corporate social responsibility by serving as a sponsor to promote Korean culture.
According to the SUPEX Council, the five members of SK Group, which are SK E&S, SKC, SK On, SK C&C, and SK Eco Engineering, will participate in Lincoln Center in New York City from July 14th to August 12th, as major sponsors of the "Summer for the City" event.
Established in 1956, Lincoln Center is the center of culture and art in New York. It is home to eleven organizations, including the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera, Juilliard School of Music, and the New York City Ballet.
"Summer for the City" is a large-scale cultural event that New York City takes pride in, and it is held during the three months of the summer season. Thousands of cultural artists from all over the world present more than 200 programs to the public. Most of the programs are free, with a few exceptions. Last year, more than 300,000 spectators enjoyed various cultural events including visual arts, music, dance and theater.
This year, the Korean Arts Week program has been added to reflect the growing interest in Korean culture around the world. Various events, from traditional dance performances to digital art, will be held for a week from July 19th to 23rd.
The highlight of this program is the performance of "One Dance" by the Seoul Metropolitan Dance Company, accompanied by Creative Director Jung Gu-ho. "One Dance" presents the essence of Korean art with overwhelming knife-like choreography that strikes the hearts of the audience, elegant beauty, and dynamic energy.
Additionally, an exhibition introducing contemporary Korean art will be held at Rockefeller Center.
"Through this sponsorship, SK will form a positive corporate image in the local area and gain sympathy from the locals for our US business," said an SK Group official.
