SK shieldus, a life care platform company, made an  announcement on May 17th regarding its new business agreement with DOGU, a specialized company in autonomous driving patrol robots. This agreement marks the beginning of a collaboration in the guided patrol robot business.

Guide patrol robots are revolutionary service robots designed to enhance facility safety and improve customer service across various environments such as shopping malls, hospitals, and museums. The domestic service robot market has been growing rapidly, as indicated by the 2021 Robot Industry Survey Results Report published by the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Promotion last year. The report revealed that the market size for service robots in South Korea reached approximately 900 billion won in 2021, showcasing a remarkable growth rate of over 40% compared to 2019.

The official agreement signing ceremony took place on May 16th at SK shieldus' office building in Samsung-dong. Key executives and staff from both SK shieldus and DOGU, including Kim Yun-ho, head of SK shieldus' growth promotion office, and Kim Jin-hyo, CEO of Toolspace, attended the event. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two companies aims to revolutionize the guided patrol robot industry by combining SK shieldus' expertise in security management and robot business operations with Toolspace's cutting-edge self-driving robot technology. The ultimate goal is to enhance customer convenience through innovative robot subscription services.

SK shieldus will oversee the overall business operations, including customer sales, management, and service of the guide patrol robots provided by DOGU. Leveraging their extensive nationwide infrastructure network, SK shieldus aims to introduce these advanced robots across various locations.

Customers will benefit from a range of features offered by the guide patrol robots. These robots can provide support for facility guidance, fire alarms, and emergency detection both indoors and outdoors. Moreover, the robots are equipped to offer visitor guidance and assistance, thereby improving operational efficiency at business sites. Thanks to their ability to handle the entire process from patrol to charging, the robots can operate unmanned. Additionally, real-time monitoring and remote control are made possible through the integration of cameras and sensors mounted on the robots.

DOGU specializes in providing robots with customized functions to cater to specific customer needs. They offer comprehensive technical support to ensure the guided patrol robots can be fully utilized in diverse situations and environments. By combining their expertise in AI security technology with SK shieldus' knowledge in robot business operations, DOGU plans to introduce guided patrol robots optimized for different scenarios.

The partnership between SK shieldus and DOGU holds great promise for the future of the guided patrol robot industry. By combining their respective strengths, these companies aim to revolutionize facility management and customer service, ultimately enhancing the safety and convenience for businesses and their patrons.

"We expect to be able to provide safer and more convenient customized robots to our customers through collaboration with Doogonggan," said Kim Yun-ho, head of SK shieldus' growth promotion office. We will lead the expansion and continue strategic partnerships to secure customers.”

Meanwhile, SK shieldus provides various robot services such as serving robots and self-driving logistics robots to provide customers with the value of convenience and security by utilizing robot technology. Self-driving logistics robots are robots that transport products in smart factories, warehouses, and factories, helping to automate factories.
