Lee Jae-hyun, Director-General for Climate & Air Quality Management of the Ministry of Environment of Korea visited the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan on December 15 to make an agreement on the distribution and technology of natural gas vehicles.

Making the agreement, the two countries will now hold a Korea-Kazakhstan NGV forum on a regular basis to share know-how on policies to distribute NGVs. In addition, the Korean government provides international training programs on NGVs to invite public officials and businessmen of Kazakhstan to observation trips to Korea's NGV manufacturers.

As one of main natural gas producing countries with 2,200billion ㎥ of natural gas reserves, Kazakhstan plans to do NGV projects to build 100 natural gas fuel stations and distribute 100,000 NGVs until 2014. Korean companies including the Korea Gas Corporation, KOLON and Daewoo Bus Corporation have consulted with the Kazakhstan government and related companies on participation in the project.

The Ministry of Environment expect that the agreement on NGVs will significantly contribute to helping domestic NGVs industries in entering the global market and building environmental cooperation channel between Korea and central Asian nations.
