HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (HJSC) organized a "Occupational Safety & Health Session for Vendor CEOs" on May 23, aimed at fostering a mutually beneficial partnership in safety and health.

The event took place at Namyeong Building in Seoul, South Korea and saw the participation of 30 CEOs representing esteemed vendors. The primary objective of the gathering was to promote communication and collaboration among the attendees.

The session followed a structured agenda, which included the presentation of Good Vendor Awards, the declaration of a Win-Win Partnership in Occupational Safety & Health, showcasing exemplary safety and health cases, and the announcement of a Support Plan for the Win-Win Partnership.

During the session, HJSC honored one outstanding vendor and two commendable vendors with a Certificate of Merit and a Metal, based on their performance in the Vendor Safety & Health Assessment. Both HJSC and the vendors expressed their commitment to actively pursuing the management goal of achieving "Zero Serious Accidents for 4 Consecutive Years" through the pledge and declaration of the Win-Win Partnership in occupational safety and health.

Furthermore, government experts in safety and health were invited to share insights on policy directions, fostering extensive and meaningful discussions on the Win-Win Cooperation Plan, including the vendors' challenges and suggestions.

As a global shipbuilding and construction company, HJSC has implemented various safety and health-related educational initiatives and activities for its vendors. It currently offers an education system that enables employees and management from vendor companies to participate through a cyber-construction safety and health academy. Going forward, day workers, including construction foremen, will also have access to this system.

HJSC has also recommended its vendors to participate in the Safety & Health Management System Consulting Program, organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), resulting in the selection of three vendors for the program.

Additionally, the South Korean construction company conducts monthly safety and health inspections, which involve all directors, including the CEO, visiting and inspecting construction sites. Thanks to these concerted efforts, HJSC has achieved "Zero Serious Accidents" for three consecutive years.

“We have achieved ‘Zero Serious Accident’ for 3 consecutive years. It is not easy to accomplish this as a large constructor. We have been able to make this happen through win-win partnership with our vendors.” said CEO Hong Moon-ki. “To extend ‘Zero Serious Accident’ for the 4th year, we will take occupational safety & health and quality our top priority.”
