Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) announced on June 1 that it has expanded its global aviation education network through the establishment of business agreements with Qatar Aeronautical Academy (QAA) and Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) at the "ICAO Global Implementaion Support Symposium 2023."
QAA, the largest aviation education center in Qatar and officially certified by ICAO, is responsible for training aviation professionals such as pilots, mechanics, and controllers in the Middle East.
NCAT, one of the three largest aviation education institutions in Africa and the largest in West Africa, has been training crucial aviation personnel, including pilots, aircraft mechanics, controllers, and flight managers, since its inception in 1964. Over the years, it has produced approximately 20,000 skilled trainees.
With the agreement signed between ICAO and NCAT, IIAC aims to strengthen collaboration in the field of aviation education. This includes developing tailor-made aviation curricula, conducting invited training sessions and local lectures, and facilitating the exchange of professional instructors.
Furthermore, IIAC plans to invite aviation officials from Qatar and Nigeria in the second half of this year to share Incheon International Airport's operational expertise.
In the following year, IIAC intends to collaborate with QAA and NCAT to establish its own ICAO certification curriculum in Qatar and Nigeria, respectively.
