LG CNS, a leading company in digital transformation (DX), has joined forces with Honeywell, a global American company, to boost production efficiency and security in smart factories.

The two companies, LG CNS and Honeywell, recently signed a business agreement aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the smart factory industry. Under this agreement, they will enhance their collaboration in the construction of smart factories both domestically and internationally. Additionally, they will focus on bolstering the security of Operating Technology (OT), which involves real-time monitoring of production processes and remote control of facilities.

In a joint effort, LG CNS and Honeywell will combine their established smart factory platforms into a comprehensive package to offer to companies. By leveraging Honeywell's process control solution and LG CNS's Factova platform, which incorporates two decades of smart factory expertise from LG affiliates, they will deliver a complete smart factory solution.

Honeywell's process control solutions encompass a production optimization solution that leverages historical data to create optimal production processes. They also provide a Distributed Control System (DCS) capable of real-time monitoring and control of facility operations.

LG CNS will contribute by establishing a security-integrated monitoring system for smart factories. As traditional closed factory networks transition into cloud-based smart factories, the importance of security becomes paramount.

Through the integrated monitoring system, customers will have a holistic view of the cybersecurity situation across all factories with automated facilities. They will even have the ability to proactively mitigate data leaks. The system is further integrated with AI-based threat detection technology, facilitating comprehensive threat identification and Managed Detection Response (MDR). This empowers customers to detect emergencies such as gas leaks and fires in factories, enabling preventive measures and swift responses.

Notably, LG CNS is collaborating with Unity, a leading global 3D platform company, to develop the Virtual Factory—the pinnacle of smart factory technology. A virtual factory replicates a real factory environment within a virtual setting. It allows for monitoring and complete control of the actual production processes taking place in the physical factory.

Lee Jin-gyu, head of the LG CNS Smart Factory Business Department, expressed his optimism about the partnership, stating, "Through this collaboration, we aim to expand our smart factory construction business not only in Korea but also in overseas markets, including the United States."
