Korean Air's Chairman and CEO, Walter Cho, was honored with the prestigious Excellence in Leadership Award at the 49th Airline Industry Achievement Awards ceremony held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on June 2.
These awards, initiated in 1974 by Air Transport World (ATW), are highly regarded in the aviation industry and are bestowed upon exceptional individuals or airlines following a rigorous evaluation process conducted by a global panel of editors and analysts.
Walter Cho received this accolade for his remarkable contributions as a prominent leader in the global aviation sector. His position as a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of Governors and Chairman of the SkyTeam Alliance Board highlights his influential role in shaping the industry.
“I’m very humbled to receive this award, and I share this with all of my employees and colleagues at Korean Air, and our valued customers that continue to support us, as well as our great partner, Delta,” said Walter Cho at the awards ceremony.
Meanwhile, Korean Air has been recognized for its excellence in the past two years. It received the ATW's Airline of the Year award in 2021 and was honored as the Cargo Operator of the Year in 2022.
