Chong Kun Dang, South Korea's pharmaceutical company, has been selected as the first company in the country's pharmaceutical industry to participate in the "2023 Metaverse Factory Construction Support Project."
This initiative, conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Agency, aims to support the establishment of a metaverse factory. To kick off the project, a meeting was recently held.
The concept of a Metaverse Factory involves the creation of an integrated virtual platform that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and automation systems to replicate real factories in a virtual space. By leveraging augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and extended reality (XR) technologies, the Metaverse Factory allows for simulation that closely resembles actual production environments, overcoming the limitations of physical space.
Chong Kun Dang plans to apply its Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and U.S. Cleanroom management expertise, crucial for obtaining Food and Drug Administration (FDA) certification, within the metaverse space. Through remote facility control, the company aims to prevent cross-contamination and focus on enhancing product quality.
The company intends to utilize AI to analyze optimal process values for production environments and implement them within the Metaverse platform. By employing bi-directional control technology, potential issues in the actual manufacturing process can be identified and resolved in advance.
Chong Kun Dang's strategy with this project is to enhance product quality by establishing a virtual platform that integrates processes, facilities, and quality management.
Additionally, the company aims to drive productivity innovation by enabling a single person to oversee multiple facilities. The practical application of the Metaverse Factory is expected to occur in the second quarter of 2024.
Meanwhile, Chong Kun Dang plans to promote the system developed through this project by showcasing it at exhibitions and offering online and offline tour programs.
