HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (HJSC) welcomed the El Salvador delegation to Korea at the invitation of the Korea Ports & Harbors Association Overseas Port Development Cooperation Support Center for repair shipyard project and port development on June 29th.

HJSC also started activities to attract the expo, such as watching the 2030 Busan Expo promotional video together with the delegation.

The visit aimed to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries, building on their recent decision to jointly support the El Salvador Los Choros bridge construction and road expansion project. This collaboration involved the Korea Economic Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

The Los Choros project aims to expand the road connecting the capital city of San Salvador with the western region, while constructing a bypass bridge in an area prone to collapse.

The total project cost is $430 million, with $210 million and $200 million being contributed by the External Economic Cooperation Fund and the Central American Economic Integration Bank, respectively.

It is worth noting that the loan support provided by the External Economic Cooperation Fund for this project represents the largest loan support on a single project basis in Latin America.

The distinguished guests from El Salvador included Sigfredo Edgardo Figueroa, Director of the Strategic Planning Office of the Presidential Office, Raul Castaneda, Director of CABEI El Salvador, and Jaime Jose Lopez, Ambassador of El Salvador to Korea.

HJ Heavy Industries, as Korea's first shipyard, brings its extensive expertise and technology to the table. Drawing from their experience in the construction and operation of the Jeddah repair shipyard in Saudi Arabia and the Subic shipyard in the Philippines, HJ Heavy Industries has established itself as a pioneer in both construction and shipbuilding.

In particular, the company operated the Jeddah Repair Shipyard in Saudi Arabia for five years from 1982 to 1987, providing the foundation for shipyard operation and worker training to Saudi Arabia. is also a case.

"We hope that the wealth of experience and technology accumulated by HJ Heavy Industries, the birthplace of Korea's shipbuilding industry, will significantly benefit the repair shipyard project in El Salvador," said an official from HJ Heavy Industries. "We look forward to further strengthening cooperation and trust between Korea and El Salvador."
