[Sydney, NSW] South by Southwest Sydney (SXSW Sydney) has announced an impressive roster of speakers and sessions for its upcoming conference in October. This marks the first time the renowned event will be held outside Austin, Texas.
With sessions selected through SXSW Sydney's rigorous process, attendees can expect a diverse range of topics, including biohacking, AI-driven matchmaking, redefining storytelling in cinema, and the environmental impact of cultured meat.
The week-long program will feature over 1,000 events and activations, celebrating technology, innovation, music, screen, games, and futurist thought in the vibrant city of Sydney.
Newly confirmed featured speakers include acclaimed film producer Bruna Papandrea, Alison Hurbert-Burns (Executive Director, Binge), Indonesian Minister for Tourism & Creative Economy Mr Sandiaga Uno, and Rathi Murthy, Chief Technology Officer & President of Expedia Product & Technology.
Among the Session Select sessions announced are "The Next Gen Blak Storytellers," "Eat Meat, Save the Planet: The Power of Cultured Meat," "The Truth About Reinvention," and "Brain Computer Interfaces: The Future of Communication."
Over 40 Session Select sessions have been revealed so far, featuring prominent figures such as Ronni Kahn AO (Founder of OzHarvest), Lenore Taylor (Editor of Guardian Australia), and Kirstin Ferguson AM.
From October 15 to October 22, 2023, Sydney will transform into a hub of creative industries, hosting the Asia-Pacific's foremost gathering of visionaries in technology, gaming, music, screen, and culture. Platinum and Industry badges can be purchased for access to the SXSW Sydney 2023 experience.
The previously announced lineup for SXSW Sydney 2023 includes over 600 speakers, encompassing experts from various fields such as Tech & Innovation, Games, Music, Screen, and Culture. Esteemed individuals like futurist Amy Webb, music industry leader Chris Lee, and Canva's Chief Evangelist Guy Kawasaki are among the notable participants.
SXSW Sydney's Session Select process received over 1,400 submissions, resulting in intriguing sessions like "It's 2050 and the Robots Are Among Us," "Thriving in the Future (of Work)," and "Rage with the Machine: Harnessing The Creativity Of AI In Music And Songwriting."
