Samsung Electronics and Microsoft have unveiled their groundbreaking plan to revolutionize mobile device security for business customers.

This collaboration has resulted in the industry's first on-device, mobile hardware-backed device attestation solution, designed to work seamlessly on both company-owned and personally-owned devices.

Device attestation is a crucial process that ensures a device's identity and health, verifying that it has not been compromised. The new on-device, mobile hardware-backed device attestation, available on Samsung Galaxy devices and integrated with Microsoft Intune protection, brings enhanced security and flexibility.

For enterprises, this represents an additional layer of defense against compromised devices attempting to gain access to sensitive corporate data by falsely claiming to be known and healthy.

Moreover, organizations can now confidently allow employees to use their personal devices (BYOD) for work, as these devices are protected with the same level of security as company-owned devices. This offers employees greater flexibility in accessing their work environment safely from their personal Galaxy devices.

In today's ever-changing landscape, with evolving work habits and increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, the Zero Trust security model has gained prominence.

This model is built on three core principles: always assuming a breach, explicit verification, and providing least privilege access. It is now mandated by regulated industries and public sector customers, including the United States government.

Enforcing Zero Trust requires a new approach to security, covering everything from apps and networks to the devices themselves, regardless of ownership and enrollment.

Samsung and Microsoft are uniquely positioned to make this a reality. Samsung is the global leader in smartphones, and its security platform, Samsung Knox, boasts a decade of experience, with more than a billion Samsung Galaxy devices activated with Knox security. Over 30,000 businesses in 110 markets rely on Samsung Knox to protect their devices from cyberattacks.

On the other hand, Microsoft leads the unified endpoint management software market and offers end-to-end cross-cloud, cross-platform security solutions. These solutions integrate various categories, including security, compliance, identity, device management, and privacy, utilizing data from over 65 trillion threat signals daily.

By joining forces, Samsung and Microsoft have created the first mobile hardware-backed device attestation, bridging the gap between consumer devices and the corporate world and enabling people to securely use their personal devices for work purposes.

“Samsung is committed to meaningful innovations that are as secure as they are versatile and optimized,” said KC Choi, EVP and Head of Global Mobile B2B Team, MX Business at Samsung Electronics. “As work habits evolve and people are working from virtually anywhere on any device, we are paving the way for the future of enterprise device security and democratizing the means for businesses to better protect their information.”
