[Vancouver] This new version of Water Castle (Sugung-ga), "Fight for the Upper Seat" brings the dancer and fable together. It is a new work presented by the Incheon Metropolitan City Dance Theatre in 2022. This dance reinvents the well-known story of the classic pansori, "Sugung-ga". Through the insight of this era, it was expressed as a dance with a sensuous style. Modern stage art and music, as well as dances of land, sea, and air, will make you forget that it is a classic. The dancers invite the audience into a new world, away from familiar classics. For this Vancouver performance, a group of dancers in the form of wild and flying animals will dazzle the audience. "Fight for the Upper Seat" depicts a fierce power struggle. Much like the fierce fight between high-ranking officials in the King's palace, wild animals and birds alike fight in the mountains for the upper seat. Byeoljubu meets and seduces a rabbit and lures him to the dragon palace.
