LG U+ announced on August 2 that it will build a smart logistics center based on 5G specialized network (e-um 5G) with cultural content platform company "Yes24" and wired and wireless communication network specialist "Qubicom".

The three companies signed a business agreement for the 5G specialized network business on August 1 at the headquarters of Yes24 in Yeouido, Seoul. The agreement was attended by Kwon Geun-seop, head of the smart factory business at LG U+, Kim Yong-gyun, head of the logistics business at Yes24, and Choi Byung-hyuk, CEO of Qubicom.

The 5G specialized network project was promoted in earnest when Yes24 and Qubicom won the e-um 5G demonstration project from the National Information Society Agency (NIA) under the Ministry of Science and ICT.

LG U+ plans to participate in the construction of a smart logistics center based on e-um 5G with Yes24 and Qubicom and support the design and construction of 5G networks using its know-how in building communication networks. In addition, it plans to provide smart factory solutions that have proven their performance through collaboration with various manufacturing companies.

LG U+ will cooperate in building an e-um 5G network at a logistics center in Paju, Gyeonggi-do, where Yes24 is currently operating, and introduce an automated robot solution that automatically transports goods according to a set route or transports goods through autonomous driving.

Through this, LG U+ plans to demonstrate logistics automation using automated robots based on a stable 5G-based communication network and help improve productivity in the logistics center.

In addition, the three companies plan to build Yes24's logistics center, which is scheduled to open at the end of next year, as a "Smart Fulfillment Center (SFC)" based on e-um 5G. SFC is a next-generation logistics center that provides one-stop management of product storage, shipping and delivery according to customer orders, and inventory management based on the communication network.

Yes24's SFC will be the largest in Asia for a single logistics center, with more than 700 logistics automation robots and various smart factory solutions.
