Telecom Giants Unite: SK Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, e&, and Singtel Launch Global Telco AI Alliance

SK Telecom (SKT), Deutsche Telekom, e&, and Singtel have come together to form the Global Telco AI Alliance, with a vision to revolutionize the customer experience worldwide through the implementation of cutting-edge AI technology.

The primary objective of the Global Telco AI Alliance is to expedite the integration of AI into their existing telecommunication business models and explore novel AI-powered avenues for sustainable growth. To solidify their commitment, the four telecom giants have signed a Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that signifies their joint cooperation in the AI domain. 

The MOU signing ceremony took place in Seoul, Korea, with key executives from all four telcos in attendance, either in-person or online. Distinguished personalities present at the event included Claudia Nemat, Board Member Technology and Innovation at Deutsche Telekom, Hatem Dowidar, Group CEO of e&, Yuen Kuan Moon, Group CEO of Singtel, Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, and Ryu Young-sang, CEO of SKT.

The immediate focus of the alliance will be the development of the Telco AI Platform. By harnessing their individual technological expertise and capabilities, the telcos aim to create a robust foundation for the introduction of new AI services. These services will encompass enhancements to the current telco offerings, digital assistants, and super apps catering to a diverse range of customer needs.

To facilitate seamless collaboration, the Global Telco AI Alliance Joint Working Group will be established. This platform will serve as a forum for in-depth discussions regarding co-investment opportunities and the joint development of the Telco AI Platform. Additionally, deliberations will take place to designate a C-level officer from each company, responsible for coordinating overall collaboration efforts.

In the pursuit of enhancing customer experience globally, the four telcos have plans to support one another in operating AI services and applications in their respective markets. Moreover, they will collaborate to build a dynamic ecosystem that fosters innovation and growth in the AI domain.
