LG Display is participating in "K-Display 2023" at COEX in Seoul, Korea, starting August 16, and unveiling a full lineup of OLEDs.

Now in its 22nd year, "K-Display 2023" is Korea's largest specialized exhibition for the display industry, organized by the Korea Display Industry Association.

LG Display organized its booth under the theme of "Always on," which reflects its commitment to transforming customer experience with displays optimized for various usage environments, with three themes: "Mobility," "Total Solution," and "Transparent Future."

In Mobility, we presented an autonomous driving concept car with displays everywhere in the car, including the dashboard, center fascia, and back seat, to show the direction of mobility innovation.

The 34-inch ultra-large P-OLED across the dashboard is characterized by providing a variety of information such as instrument panel and navigation clearly, enhancing driving comfort. The center fascia and rear seats are also equipped with P-OLED-based 12-inch displays that can be differentiated in design with flexible curves, allowing customers to experience the next generation of automotive displays.

In addition, LG Display also introduced various other automotive display solutions through the video, including Advanced Thin OLED (ATO), a new affordable product that uses a glass substrate to expand the supply of automotive OLEDs, and Switchable Privacy Mode (SPM), a new viewing angle control technology for safe driving.

LG Display is focusing on expanding sales and orders based on its differentiated technology competitiveness, including Tandem OLED and high-end LCD, to strengthen its position as the world's No. 1 player in the automotive display sector.

Tandem OLEDs are made up of two layers of organic light emitting layer, which provides high brightness, long life, and durability compared to a single layer. P-OLEDs (Plastic OLEDs), which combine tandem OLEDs with a plastic substrate, are thin, light, and bendable, allowing for design differentiation, and are said to consume 60% less power than LCDs and weigh 80% less, making them ideal for the era of electric vehicles.

Total Solution displayed a full lineup of OLEDs covering ultra-large, small, medium, and ultra-small sizes, as well as high-end LCDs, including "META Technology," an innovative technology that combines 10 years of OLED technology.

OLED TV panels ranging in size from 97 inches to 42 inches were on display, and the new META technology was particularly impressive. META Technology applies Micro Lens Array (MLA), which maximizes light emission from organic materials, and META Booster, a luminance enhancement algorithm that improves energy efficiency by approximately 22% and pushes the limits of OLED brightness and viewing angles.

Optimized for gaming, the 45-inch ultra-wide OLED panel and 27-inch OLED panel have the fastest response time of 0.03ms and high refresh rate (240Hz) for sharp and smooth screen transitions.

Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO) with AI algorithm is also applied to provide a more vivid and realistic gaming experience with sound coming directly from the screen without the need for separate speakers.

LG Display also introduced new technologies for small and medium-sized OLEDs that drive form factor innovation. The "17-inch Foldable Notebook OLED" with a curvature of 2.5R (the curvature of a circle with a radius of 2.5 mm), which delivers sharp image quality without wrinkles, features scalability that breaks the boundaries of devices by adjusting the angle according to the purpose, whether it is a portable monitor, notebook, or tablet. The "8-inch 360-degree Foldable OLED" realizes bi-directional folding, which is more technically challenging than unidirectional folding, allowing users to fold both forward and backward as desired.

The next-generation technology, 0.42-inch OLED On Silicon (OLEDoS) for augmented reality (AR) glasses, applies OLEDs to silicon wafers that make semiconductors, enabling more immersive augmented reality with an ultra-high resolution of 3,500 pixels per inch (PPI).

At Transparent Future, we unveiled new sizes including 30-inch and 77-inch for the first time, in addition to our existing 55-inch transparent OLED, and showcased our curved transparent OLED, introducing lineup expansion and form factor evolution.

The company also showcased a transparent OLED in-store concept in collaboration with global coffee chain Starbucks.

Transparent OLEDs, which LG Display is the only company in the world to mass-produce, are as transparent as glass, allowing users to see behind the screen while providing a variety of information and graphic effects. Since it can be applied anywhere, including windows, walls, and floors, it can efficiently utilize limited space and is being applied to various fields such as retail, architecture, mobility, and digital art.
